Add READSmart Online to your phone

Choose Install app in the menu, or open readsmart.app/install. Tap Install READSmart if it appears and confirm in your browser. Otherwise choose Android or iPhone and follow the three pictured steps. You can send pupils the same address.

On Android, open Chrome's three-dot menu, choose Install app (some phones say Add to Home screen), then Install. On iPhone or iPad, tap Share in Safari (open the three dots first if Share is hidden), then Add to Home Screen. Leave Open as Web App on and tap Add. Open the app from the READSmart Online icon on your home screen.

If the link opened inside Messenger or Facebook, open it in Chrome or Safari first. The installed app updates itself whenever READSmart changes, so nobody needs to install it again. You still need the internet to sign in, send recordings and get results.

Pupils with no internet at home can use READSmart Offline, a separate Android app on the same page. It has the practice stories and the Phil-IRI sets, and it keeps every reading on the phone. Those readings never reach your class.

A class or practice recording is saved on the student's device before uploading. If Wi-Fi drops, keep the reading page open. It retries when the connection returns and every 30 seconds while a send is waiting with a connection. Reopening the same reading on the same device also retries it. The session's expiry still applies. Ask students not to clear the app's saved data while a recording is waiting.
