I forgot my password. What do I do?

Ask your teacher. They can give you a new first password to sign in with.

My microphone does not work.

When your device asks to use the microphone, tap Allow. You can also try the microphone check first to hear yourself before you record. If it still sounds wrong, move closer to the microphone. If nothing helps, ask your teacher.

What does "No internet right now" mean?

This message appears at the top of the screen when your phone or computer loses its internet connection. It means READSmart cannot load new pages right now. Once you are back online, the message goes away and pages load again.

If a class or practice reading does not send, it waits on this device. Keep its reading page open. READSmart tries again when the connection returns and every 30 seconds while it waits with a connection. You can also tap Try sending again. If you closed the page, reopen the same reading on this device before the session ends. Do not clear the app's saved data while a reading is waiting.

If the reading session has ended, ask your teacher for another try.

What happens if the time runs out in a reading check?

If you are reading when time runs out, READSmart sends the part you already read. If time runs out before you start reading anything, ask your teacher for another try.

Can I read a story again?

Yes, you can open a practice story again any time. Recording a new reading is capped at a set number each day, and every reading you send shows up on your progress page. Once you reach the day's limit, you can still open and read the story, but READSmart tells you that you cannot record any more right now.

Who can hear my recordings?

Your teacher and staff at your school can listen to your recordings. Practice recordings are deleted automatically 30 days after you send them.

What happens if I leave the demo?

Your demo result and finished questions stay available in the same browser tab for three hours. Come back to Demo to see them. The sound you recorded cannot be restored. Tap Try another passage, or pick a different sample on the home page, to start a new reading. The reading range uses both reading accuracy and your answers when you finish the questions.

Where is Stop recording?

While you read in Demo or practice, Stop recording and the timer stay at the bottom of the screen. Scroll through the story, then tap Stop recording when you finish.
