Demo privacy notice

Record only with the reader’s permission. A parent, guardian, or teacher should guide a child who tries the demo.

Your recording

You will read an original READSmart practice passage written for this Demo. It is not an official Phil-IRI passage. The browser sends that recording for automated processing. The server copy is deleted immediately after processing, and the result appears only after deletion is confirmed.

Practice playback

A temporary playback copy stays in this browser tab so you can try the teacher review. It is not saved to browser storage or a classroom. Use “Clear playback” to remove it sooner; leaving this page, restarting the demo, or session expiry also clears it. Practice teacher scores stay only in this page and are never submitted.

What is kept

The temporary transcript and result expire three hours after the session begins. Reloading this tab can restore the result check and completed questions, but not audio playback. Session storage keeps the session identifier, access token, expiry, passage, grade, language, recording source and your question choices or skip status, never your audio, transcript or computed scores. Question choices expire with the session and are never sent to the server. Starting another passage clears them. Abandoned uploads are queued for deletion after their upload link expires. Failed processing is also cleaned up; deletion failures are retried and results stay hidden until deletion is confirmed.

Usage and cost records

We keep content-free operational records: run counts, audio length, processing attempts, outcomes and timings. They let the administrator distinguish public Demo costs from school assessments and owner QA. These records do not contain your voice, transcript, scores, name or email. Public visitors do not need an account. File upload QA is restricted to the authenticated project owner.

How demo data is used

Your audio and transcript are used to produce the temporary result. They are excluded from classroom records, research datasets, model training and public samples. A microphone upload check tests transfer and deletion only; it does not run reading analysis.

Limits

The automated result may be wrong. The demo cannot provide a final reading assessment, a diagnosis, or mispronunciation detection. A teacher needs to review a classroom assessment before using a result to plan instruction.
